Battlestar Galactica - Season 1 - Episode 7 - "Six Degrees of Separation"

Full details of the episode (that's SPOILERS!) can be found on the Sky One Battlestar Galactica episode guide

Baltar refuses to except Number Six's one god. She disappears and a woman called Shelley Godfrey, who looks identical to Number Six, arrives on the Battlestar Galactica with evidence that Baltar is a traitor.

An episode focussing on Baltar, just what I have been waiting for. I love Baltar, the way he teeters between insanity and humour and fear is wonderful. Number Six (in a sort of evening dress this time) mentions the one God's plan. Is that the same as the Cylon's plan as mentioned in the prologue? It set me wondering again that something bigger is going on, the Helo on Caprica story alludes to this too. Something is happening beyond the hunt to make humans extinct. But what? Hopefully I won't be disappointed at the answer.

Some great Baltar moments include; Number Six trying to be serious but Baltar having trouble with the zip on her dress, waltzing up to Shelley and saying that her neckline should be lower and then the following moments when he realises that everyone can see her and of course Baltar's moment of redemption when he gives himself up to God's divine will.

As usual with the series so far there are lots of open questions still. Did God really save Baltar? Does Baltar have that doubt as well? Of course Number Six admitted the whole plan at the end but the hints are left hanging which is great. And where did Shelley go? How did Number Six get from within Baltar's consciousness into the Battlestar Galactica and back again? Presumably it was a brilliant plan? But it seems to emphasise that Baltar isn't just mad.

Number Six is undoubtedly the seduction model after trying it on with Commander Adama, of course she couldn't get one over on him (ooerr). A hardened (cough) military man falling for a pretty woman? Of course not. He's so cool.

Helo did a bit of running away from Cylon's which was good because the Cylons look pretty groovy when they run. Boomer described the Cylon ship as an animal, arousing the Chief's suspicions. But who wrote "Cylon" on her locker mirror? The President got a bit illler. Starbuck got out of bed and into the Cylon ship.

At at the end Baltar heads upstairs with a naked Number Six and a quick thank you to God. Fantastic.

I really enjoyed this episode. Lots.
