I'm not really convinced of the point of remaking an old film at all. If the story is exactly the same ("faithful to the original") then all you get is better special effects...and so what?

I don't remember being overly gripped by the earlier versions, so I'm not too sure how he has expanded the story to maintain human interest.
The monkey effects look good (as you'd expect from someone who co-owns an effects house), but I wonder how they'll stand up for a 90+ min film.
