Battlestar Galactica 210 - Pegasus

- Post a Comment

The Galactica finds another Battlestar, the Pegassus and everybody is jubilant....for a while.

Quick Verdict : Nice. The tension ratchets up to an almighty cliffhanger.

SPOILERS!!

So there's not much surprise or delay in introducing the Battlestar Pegasus into the episode, no messing, straight in there. Instead the tension comes from the integration of the Pegasus and Galactica crews.Enter Admiral Helena Cain, hard nut military woman and her bonzai military crew.

Lots of interesting issues raised this episode. One that I thought of, are the Pegasus crew so military based because they haven't had to look after civilians or because of their leadership? I'm not sure about the Admiral, she's a bit stereotypical-woman-in-command-trying-to-be-antistereotypical, if you get what I mean. Either way it's clear that the crews don't get on and suddenly the military force that declared martial law look all soft and cuddly in comparison.

Then there's the captured cylons. Not sure how I feel about that either, the Pegasus Cylon interrogator using torture and rape to get what he wants. I guess they're trying to make a point but somehow the fact that they are two women seems to be contrived and unnecessary. How would it have been handled if it was a male cylon?

Baltar steals the show, as usual, with is touching attempt at communicating with the tortured Number Six on Pegasus. We got to see a windows through his madness, revealing that he really was in love and it screwed him up a lot.

Then it is all left with an almighty cliff hanger of Adama taking on the Pegasus to try and retrieve the scheduled for execution Chief and Helo. Cool. I liked how the tension ratcheted up.

Good episode.

So now we have to wait until January. What?! What's the deal with US shows doing that show it in two halves thing?
