SF housing ideas
Live Science has an interesting article reminding us that Science Fiction may already have the answers for emergency rehousing required by disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, Housing for Katrina Victims: Ideas from Science Fiction.
It mentions Neal Stephensons U-Stor-IT apartment (from Snow Crash) and also William Gibson's micro-bachelor (from Idoru).
Although history could teach us a thing or two, during WWII the UK built many "pre fabs" (prefabricated houses) which some people are still living in.(And presumably this happened elsewhere too?)
