Lack of Serenity publicity in UK

- Comments (3)

I'm slightly surprised at the complete lack of publicity for Serenity in the UK. I've seen the trailer on TV a few times but that's about it. No tv mentions. No radio mentions No billboard posters. Not even posters on double decker buses (and yet some of them still have The Island posters!).

Maybe it's because Serenity is being overshadowed by the mighty Wallace and Gromit? (The premiere was last week and I think there are previews this week).

Dunno.

In truth I really don't think there was that much offline publicity for Serenity in the US either. It's a movie with a small budget and Hollywood doesn't usually spend millions to advertise those.

I think they were largely relying on generating a stir online, which they did to at least some success.

It's a very good point. I suppose it's being targetted through the uk scifi channel, more than the general public. I'm thinking it will do well. :)

That's a fair point Eoghann, I guess something like The Island did have ten times the budget of Serenity.

...and I also have no idea how much it costs to put a poster on a billboard come to think of it! Still, they could have got some fans to print some out and fly post everywhere?!
