River of Gods was read at the start of the year but remained the stand out book of the year. A fresh mix of India, AI's and cyberpunkish stories, it blew the judges away.
Film : Star Wars Episode 3, Revenge of the Sith
Despite all of the criticisms, the hype and the expectations, it came down to one thing, the film was Star Wars. The last Star Wars ever. How could it not win?
Television : Doctor Who
The TV category was tough, any other year and all of the nominees would have won. But in the end Doctor Who comes out top. Not only was it the biggest success of the year for the BBC (no mean feat) but it also restablished Science Fiction as prime time family entertainment, opening the universe of SF to a whole new generation.
