A hostage situation occurs on Cloud 9.
(And the fast forward plot summary is still annoying me lots.)
SPOILERS AHEAD!
So, conveniently, lots of the Galactica crew are on leave on Cloud 9 when a terrorist group creates a hostage situation. A conventional plot cliché then, that's been done a million times before on a million different shows, and err... in real life quite a lot too.
So what can Battlestar Galactica do to make it interesting? Well, not much except for the fact that there are characters in the show that we care about. And that's all the episode is really, the show's characters making decisions under pressure.
- Apollo tries to be military man and save everyone, but when it comes down to it he can't risk anyone innocent getting shot.
- Ellen, tries to save her own skin, and makes things worse.
- Starbuck tries to be a hero, goes in shooting and messes things up.
- Billy wants to impress Dee and tries to be a hero, and gets killed.
- Adama decides to keep Sharon the cylon and not deal with terrorists.
This episode was okay, but left me feeling a bit empty, although at least it ended better than the last few episodes.
