A triple plot episodes with stories about the upcoming presidential election, a rescue mission to Caprica and the Chief's psychological problems.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
First off the segment before the titles was brilliant. It had a relentless feel to it, swapping between the three plots, kind of like doing it without breathing and seeing how far you could get. Great music to that bit too.
The plot with the Chief going loopy seemed a bit pointless, unless it's foreshadowing something bigger perhaps? Like he is a cylon?! However this strand of the episode was made interesting by Dean Stockwell, being well, Dean Stockwell! He was great as the priest sorting out the Chief's head. More of him please.
The Caprica rescue plot didn't really get going this episode, they got there, found the resistance, got under attack. Oh and on the way someone jumped into a mountain. Oops. The most interesting part for me was how Apollo interacted with the pilots now that he is an Admiral. A more relaxed, comrade style of leadership than his father.
Then, the Presidential plot. Baltar and Six are still a great combination. Baltar almost seems resigned to teh fact that his life is completely out of control. This episodes Oscar for straight acting under duress goes to Richard Hatch, who had to pretend that Tricia Helfer wasn't draped around him in a slinky dress. That's a professional. Again, the plot didn't really do much, there were a couple of debates, there was finding the habitable planet. Blah blah.
Whilst watching the episode I liked it, but looking back it was so obviously a setup for the season finale. Which is a shame because it was a bit of a waste.
