John Meaney is fit

I knew John Meaney did martial arts, but now he reveals a sample week of training. So that's how you keep fit as a writer!

My personal theory is that exercise is bad for you.

Good grief - one day of that routine spread over a month would probably cause my curry-and-beer-loving smoker's heart to rupture. If you care to formally name your 'personal theory', I will gladly act as an advocate thereof ...

I have more science to the theory. It goes like this...

Your heart has a certain number of beats to your life. If you exercise you use them up. The gain in the slow down of your heart as you get fitter will not compensate for the fast beating bits.

Therefore you are better off not exercising.
Or being an elephant.
