Battlestar Galactica - Season 1 - Episode 5 - "You Can't Go Home Again"

Full details of the episode (that's SPOILERS!) can be found on the Sky One Battlestar Galactica episode guide

Starbuck is stranded on a hostile moon. Can the Galactica find her?

Continuing straight off from the last episode, Starbuck is stranded on a hostile moon which is all over exposed red and looking very groovy in a Mars kind of way. After the clever structure and emotion of the last episode this one was more conventional with action replacing deep character insights.

I did have flashbacks to the original Battlestar Galactica series when Starbuck found the Cylon ship. There was that episode where FaceMan, sorry Starbuck was stranded on a world and made a truce with a stranded Cylon. I remember it as being great, but it was probably rubbish. Fortunately this episode took a new route, organic cylon ships, which was a nice turn but made Starbuck managing to fly it pretty unbelievable.

The President tried to get a bit stroppy with the Adamas and it was sort of convinving, but didn't make me warm to her. Helo finally got some action with a couple of cylons but then was left on his own again. I have no idea where that plot's going, if anywhere. Baltar continues to make me laugh and Number Six was wearing a kind of strappy blue thing that would have looked at home on a beach (who knew that the cylons had so many clothes?!).

On its own the episode may have seemed a bit weak, but as the resolution to episode 4 it was good and left me satisfied.
