Battlestar Galactica ratings okay

So what was the worry about bad ratings due to everyone watching it via BitTorrent? Apparently it did well. Although 3.1 million viewers across the entire population of the USA sounds a bit small to me? Didn't Buffy used to get that on BBC2?
