Here's a random selection of Serenity reviews that just happened to appear in feeds I'm subscribed to. There is undoubtedly loads more about on the web...

...all of which are if not positive, at least not negative. What's interesting is how much exposure the film is getting. That can only be a good thing,

Wired News: Serenity's a Smarter Space Opera
"...in the context of contemporary Hollywood blockbusters, Serenity feels cutting edge. Why? It's smart and very well-written."
The Blogosphere is abuzz with Serenity.
I still have a week to wait until I can see it. Arrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhh.
Just got a message from Joss Wheedon in my mailbox. Unfortunately we're not best mates but it's a Browcoat mailing list thingy. The message is supposed to be online, but can't see it yet. He's so cool though it's worth copying the whole thing....
In support of the charity Children In Need the BBC are offering tikctes to Dine with the Doctor. For £100 you get a posh meal, the (somewhat remote chance) to speak to David Tennant, Billie Piper and Russell T Davies, a Doctor Who memorabilia auction and a Q&A session with the stars. It's in Cardiff on 14th October.
One for Who fans with some money to spare (ie. not me).
'Serenity' now for sci-fi fans - Yahoo! News
"We have a much broader base than just sci-fi people," he says. "That's what I found in our screenings so far. They're a diverse group, fairly well-adjusted socially, and I expect that a lot of them are even having sex. I really think the line between geeks and the rest of the world is blurring."
Via Sci-Fi Storm here's an interview on vfxblog with Zoic's Loni Peristere about the visual effects work they did on Serenity.
Just seen the Serenity trailer on UK television for the first time. It was shown on an ad-break during Pitch Black, which makes sense. The trailer said that there are preview showings on the 6th Oct :-( I was hoping they'd have previews a week early as they sometimes do.
From the Official Lucy Lawless Fan Club
"I'll be filming two more episodes of Battlestar Galactica. Don't know yet when they're going to air. Thought you'd like to be the first to know. -- Lucy"
Cool. Although if D'Anna was a cylon model surely you'd expect to see even more of her?
Serenity Cast Signed For Sequels
Although maybe this isn't anything to get excited about, is it standard practice to do sign up actors just in case?
The perks of working for Time magazine appear to be that you get to interview Neil Gaiman and Joss Whedon at the same time.
Personally I think that's just greedy. he could have let me interview one of them.
IGN: Exclusive: Star Wars TV Series Now Hiring
So you get to write the Star Wars TV series, at Skywalker Ranch, with George Lucas. Is there a better job?
CV's in the mail....
This months BSFA interview is 28th September: Paul McAuley interviewed by Simon Bradshaw
Hidden away on the Serenity site is some groovy production art. My favourite of which is this...

The BBC is running reviews of Doctor Who books as provided by some school reading groups. Here's the first, here's the big list of book reviews on the site.
Via SFSignal, someone has built a Lego model of Serenity, here's the site. Also check out his desktop wallpapers and FAQ...
Q: Don't you have a bit too much free time? A: Perhaps.[snip]
Very funny.
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Film | Obi-Wan Kenobi cloak rediscovered
you'd think that be a master jedi old Ben Kenobi would remember where he left his cloak?
Or maybe it's all Darth Vaders fault? He left it on the Death Star floor and some droid picked it up and shipped it off to the recycling factories of Ord Mantell?
Either way it's now estimated to be worth as much as £25k. Nice little earner for a retired jedi.
Christopher Eccleston as won the not very pretigious TV Choice/TV Quick award for best actor. Nice one. Doctor Who was also up for Best New Drama, but lost out to Desperate Housewives. Hmmm.
SERENITY has a new Flash intensive web site. Lots of exploring to do, but not much content there really. Looks pretty though.
